Why did you decide on adopting?
We both feel that God is calling us to adopt. God brought us together and directed to marry-- and that worked out so beautifully. So, we decided to follow him on this direction as well.
Why Russia?
Russia was the next best fit for us- once we found out that Vietnam was closing. We have been so completely pleased with how the Cradle has been handling every angle of our adoption through their Russian program so far.
How long does it take?
This is a very difficult question to answer because it is dependent upon many different factors. We have been told that we can expect a referral in late fall of 2008. If that is the case, we may travel yet this year for the first trip. There is a wait of one to three months between the first trip and the second trip. (The second trip we will go and actually adopt the child and bring them home.)
How old will the child be?
Our child will be no older than 18 months old at the time of the adoption.
Will it be a boy or a girl?
We don't know yet. We found out at the first meeting that we did have the choice of choosing the sex of our child. But after much consideration, we decided not to choose.
